What's HAUTE for 2011

Renowned color authority Pantone has once again come up with a fantastic 'color of the year.' Honeysuckle has been named the IT color for 2011! This warm corally-pink tone has been seen everywhere from fashion to food, interiors to electronics, menswear to make-up. Just in time for Valentine's Day!

Lucky for us, this color looks fabulous on everyone and everything - including your home! Spice things up easily with a new pillow, throw, or splash of paint.

Or go crazy and let it take over a small space.. like this closet! If only I would step into this every morning, I would be in love....

Christmas Cheer

Merry Christmas! As an end to this wonderful day I am sharing an inside tour of our "Southern Hospitality" home we showed the exterior of on a previous blog. We are thankful to this family and the joys we had decorating their home.

We used this iron chandelier to create a focal point over a table in the lower level bar. Finishing it off with candlelight gave it a warm glow for all the festivities.

My favorite were the 2 special girls own personal trees!! The screams of delight made my Christmas.

This was a pink explosion....and divine it was. A dream come true for any girl who loves pink!

Lollipops dancing in our heads.

Just a little bit of color!!! Adding the striped pink teddy bear was a great addition into this tree.

Hope it was a Merry Christmas and to all a good night.

Beautiful America

Happy July 4th. I love everything that this holiday reminds me of. Our freedom in this country and how thankful I am to all of the great men and women who make that freedom possible. Summer picnics, time spent with family, fireworks, relaxing at the lake, fresh produce purchased at the local farmer's market. Red, white, and blue and the combination of these 3 colors symbolize strength to me. Through out my travels I have learned the power behind symbolism. When I see the American flag regardless of where I am I feel close to home. As well as all the other many, many emotions and pride that are attached to all of us when we see the flag fly.

All these pictures are reminders of what I love about America and July 4th!

( I would love to look this fabulous chopping wood.)
Thanks to this woman and her sacrifice to all of us!

House Beautiful

Corn on the cob is a 4th of July classic for my family. Add chives or chilli to the butter for a new twist to this summer classic.

Two classics standing and representing strenght!

I hope you all enjoy your weekend.

At the Square

In the May issue of 614 Magazine, the favorite favorites of Columbus were featured by the readers. The best residential apartment was, Alexander Square. We were honored to be part of the interior design, and more importantly, know that people enjoy where they live.

In this project our inspiration started with the natural elements of the stone. We continued the stone into the interiors using that as a focal point.

Chocolate was the anchoring color used throughout the project. Complimenting the brown, indigo blue was used as one of the primary colors.

The draperies were 22' long. We installed them at the ceiling to accent the height and overall open feel (drawing your eye upwards). In my designs, I always use green in some aspect or another - whether it's in upholstery, paint, draperies, or foliage. Green is the color of life and really breathes that life into any space. Here, we used it in the high back chairs and in the wheat grass on the mantle - again carrying the natural elements throughout.

On the opposing wall of the blue velvet draperies, white sheers were hung along the entire wall to soften the large space, adding another layer into the room. I love to use fabrics in my designs. Textiles are the beginning inspiration of most of the environments that we create.

Most suites in residential living have a very neutral palette. The use of textures, colors in upholstery, patterns, and accents are really vital in creating your own designed space. Layering of textures and patterns is the key ingredient in working with a neutral canvas. The espresso cabinets really add a high end look and give the room depth. (but yet stay neutral)

If you lived here you would be home! For more projects visit At the Square.

Who's your daddy?

Welcome Tom Finney and Mark Ballard of Sugardaddy's to Gay Street!!! Read about their story on Downtown Columbus.

We are so excited to have Sugardaddy's right around the corner from our office. A second location has opened at 11 East Gay Street, downtown Columbus. This is very dangerous for our waistlines here at Crimson Design. I can't wait to have our next brainstorming meeting in the lounge of Sugardaddy's. I can't imagine what creations we can concoct with all the sugar confections dancing in our heads (hopefully not confessing secrets because we are in a sugar coma, but rather imagining all the beautiful spaces we can create).

The truffles are to die for and if brownies aren't enough they have mixed the brownies into Johnson's ice cream. YUMMY!! All the sumptuous sweets are delicious. What has always caught my eye is the beautiful packaging. Wrapped in bright pinks, chartreuse, and brilliant blue to name a few. And if you have always dreamed of having a pink room, then make a visit to their new storefront. Pink, pink and more pink will engulf you as you sit and enjoy that delicious sweet. The personalized petite tote with polka dot ribbon is a great gift idea for that special sweet tooth. As seen In Style magazine.

Run down to Gay street! Don't waste this beautiful day without a delicious treat!!
