Today is the Hindi religious spring festival called Holi.

It is celebrated mostly in India and Nepal.

Every year thousands participate in the festival!

Although it is the least religious holiday, it is the most exciting one that exists.

The festival has many purposes but first and foremost, it celebrates the beginning of the new season, spring.

During this event, participants hold a bonfire, throw colored powder at eachother, and celebrate wildly!

]]>A trip to food wonderland.http://www.crimsondesigngroup.com/red-eye/2013/1/30/a-trip-to-food-wonderland.htmlCheryl Beachy Stauffer2013-01-30T16:35:16Z2013-01-30T16:35:16ZCheryl and I recently took a little road trip up north to visit the new culinary hot spot of Columbus.  Well, it's sort of in Columbus.  I'm talking about the Veritas Tavern in Delaware, Ohio.  It's about a 30min drive from Columbus.  We invited our good friend Brian Coovert of Brian Coovert Floral Designs to join us.  We all piled in our car and headed out for this food wonderland.  Word on the street was that our experience was going to be a fantastic one as well as one influenced by molecular gastronomy.  What an incredible experience!  We had no idea what to choose from the menu so we said "give us the whole menu".  

Do you blame us?


It went on and on!

The colors were beautiful and the layout was perfect.


Just to let you know, this is shrimp cocktail spread out on a slate board.  


It was all soooo good.

Crimson Design Group was graciously given the opportunity to travel to New York City to help celebrate the success of our friends and business partners, Preferred Living.  They rock, to put it simply!  The MHN (Multi Housing News) awarded Preferred Living with Gold in the Excellence Awards for Chelsea Square, a project in which we provided the interior design.  We took a private flight to New York and took some time to get rested up and prepare for the evening.  Cheryl and I(Luis) love the city and always find time to eat somewhere new.  This time we hit up the NoMad.  

 In the evening we went to the awards ceremony and got the party started with a great view and some drinks!

I'm always looking for design opportunities in my travels around the world.  It just so happened that I had the chance for a quick re-do for an amazing family in Costa Rica.  This was the perfect Red Chandelier project.  Red Chandelier is a service the design firm offers.  It is a quick design using all existing furnishings with recommendations at the end of the project.  The beautiful and spacious house was tucked away in the city and the grounds were lush and topical which provided a great backdrop for the swimming pool.  I instantly knew that I had to incorporate the beauty of the outdoors with the interior spaces.  As I set to work the first item on my list was the sun!  (you can never have too much natural light, especially when you live in the tropics)  I tore down the window treatments and the exposed the large windows.  It was amazing how this transformed the entire house.  Next, I rearranged all the furniture to create small intimate spaces as well as making it functional.  I also placed lighting and accessories as to maximize the natural light that now filled the house.  I placed cobalt blue pillows on various seating to compliment the brightness of the blue sky and the reflection of the pool.  My last task was to accent the interiors with the lush tropical foliage found outside.  I placed the incredible looking plants around the house.  It was my vision in this project to create a quiet and serene place for the family to come home to and get away form the hustle and bustle of life.  They loved the new look and were eager to show others the transformation.  As I boarded my flight, I couldn't help but wonder what international project I was going to be a part of next .  

]]>Crossville Tourhttp://www.crimsondesigngroup.com/red-eye/2012/6/11/crossville-tour.htmlCheryl Beachy Stauffer2012-06-11T15:31:00Z2012-06-11T15:31:00ZLast month, I was honored to be invited by Hamilton Parker to take a trip to Tennessee to tour Crossville, a tile manufacturer.  I have used many various products produced by Crossville and thoroughly enjoyed learning and seeing what all goes into the manufacturing process.  What I was most impressed with were the core values of this privately held company.  The company believes in these five values:

  • Family
  • Partnership
  • Integrity
  • Improvement
  • Respect

As a business owner I couldn't say it any better than these core values to lead by.  I was so encouraged to not only see a company that produces beautiful products but that foremost stands for integrity. 

Here are a few of my favorite products that I use often.

This basic white subway tile in the color by numbers series is favorite of mine.  This series is great for kids bathrooms.  The bright colors in this collection can add a splash of color and the designs possibilities are endless.  The 4 x 8 white subway tile is a good canvas to add other tile elements like this small origins glass tile.

Thanks again to Hamilton Parker and Crossville for educating me on porcelain tile as well as a great lesson in leadership.
